2007 CF Clean-up Report
Wow - what community spirit sprang forth Saturday, April 14! Many families came out on a 50 degree day and left West Street without a piece of litter to be found, except enclosed in 10 garbage bags at the corner. It was so amazing to see the families working together and having fun while even exploring the uninhabitated land a little bit. Thank you to Dale, Lindsey and Megan Simonson; Sanjay and Jayna Shah; Mitch, Olivia, Sabrina and Kyle Friedman; Tom, Tori and Nina Puccinelli; Pete and Savanna Swanson; and Labaina, Aamir and Sanaa Raj and Ken Budnick.
Others cleaned up litter along the shores of pond 1 and hauled brush trimmings from trees to the curb. Thank you Diane, Jerry and Lonnie McManigal and Tony, Winston, Stephanie and Janice Wong and Nafeez Chowdhry.
Along pond 2 Diane Barbret and Pratima Nettimi/Balakumar worked, while Craig and Eric Barbret removed and burned fallen tree limbs in the common areas between ponds 2 and 3. Crew members who also assisted were Allison, Jennifer and Jeanette Ray, the Raj's, Wongs and Tim Davis, Kyle Hookstadt and Peter Mitoraj.
Many thanks to the neighbors who raked up debris along pond 3 including Sean and Keegan Flaherty, Jan and Mike Casiello, and Linda Nulf.
What a great amount of work can be done when banded together. If anyone worked and was not listed please send Diane an email to dbarbret@wowway.com. Our number of workers looks like 40! Awesome! The part I enjoyed was seeing the children having such fun and helping. Also I was glad to see some neighbors explore the common areas between ponds 2 and 3 for the first time. All these common areas are open for all to enjoy. Enter the walking the paths at the nature trail sign.
Our next event is a summer evening Cicada Nature Hike held by Naturalist Sue Cravatta on Thursday June 14 or Friday June 15 at 6:30 p.m. Contact Sue Cravata at suelovesjrs@comcast.net if you are interested and to express your choice of date. A community campfire will hopefully round out the evening as we watch for bats circling the skies and any other interesting creatures.
