Return-Path: To: "Century Farms Chat" Organization: The Bixler Group From: "Fran Bixler" Date: Thu, 6 Feb 2003 16:40:00 -0600 Subject: [cfna] MORE INFORMATION ON THE PLAYGROUND MANUFACTURER Reply-To: cfna@yahoogroups.com Wow Tim gave me a terrific idea when he put that hyperlink in. Since so many neighbors can't make it to see the plans at the Naperville District Office, I called Karen at the Park District to find out which manufacturer has the leading votes. According to Karen, Little Tykes has the majority of votes cast. So here is the hyperlink for the commercial playground equipment offered by Little Tykes: http://www.ltcps.com/components.php . This is their component page. I had Karen fax me the data sheet for the components which have been selected. Below are the more important ones that she asterisked for our choosing. We can find these on their website as well. But check out the website. It also has a component called the Tikes Peak http://www.ltcps.com/components.php?category=30 . This looks interesting. I asked Karen if this was something we could have the option of using and she said she would check into the platform height. If it matches we can use it! But of course Karen wants us to vote on everything as a subdivision still. So she wants to know if we can use our chat list and the web page links to come to some understanding. If we can, then we can email her our votes on everything and wait for her response; otherwise we will have to have another meeting sometime in the next two weeks but no later than February 19th. Either way sounds good to me. Below are the options as they are described on the data sheet: Slide Dbl. Wd. 1220 MM/48" KB Slide Elbow 70 Deg KB Slide Wave KB 1220 MM/48" KD Slide Wave KB 1625 MM/64" KB Pole Slide 1625 MM/64" KB Climber Curly 1220 MM/64" KB Climber Loop 1220 MM/48" KB Spring Rider Horse - Tan/Red Ladder Challenge 8: KB Spring Rider ATV - Blue/Yellow Ladder Rung 1220 MMW/Safety Loop KB Totter Two Seat - Blue/Red Stepping Stones F/KB KB 1220 MM Stone Climber KB Side Step Climber 1220 Deck to Deck Swing 1-Bay MP 2440(8') W/2 Belt (3200) Swing 1-Bay MP 2440(8') W/2 Tot (3200) Overhead Circle F/KB Bridge Arch 4' w/Safety Rails KB Climber Fan 72"/1830 mm F/KB Steering Wheel Rail Mount F/KB Red KBP Safety Rail w/Wheel Mount DKMT (2001) KB Panel Arch "Moo Match" DKMT Four Tikes of Steel (No Color was mentioned) Fran Bixler -----Original Message----- From: Tim Yao [mailto:tyao@teiru.net] Sent: Thursday, February 06, 2003 1:31 PM To: cfna@yahoogroups.com Subject: Re: [cfna] TODAY IS THE LAST DATE TO CAST YOUR VOTE FOR PLAYGROUND MANUFACTURER. Thanks, Fran, for the reminder! Just an update for those who want to go to vote. It looks like I was wrong about the address for where the NPD Planning office is. It is on the right side of Book Road, about opposite of Frontier Park south of 95th street in Naperville. It's a small two story building with a gravel parking lot in front. The entrance to the Planning Office is on the second floor on the south side of the house. Only about 30 people have registered votes thus far (pretty poor participation from our subdivision, though perhaps my misdirected address might have played a part--even the receptionist at the NPD Jackson street office couldn't tell me the correct address on Book!). There are catalogs with some of the options that will be lined up for change-outs. For my part, I asked for: * A merry-go-round (they still make them even if they aren't popular) * A multi-pondo (this is a large teeter-totter type thing where you stand up within a semi-circular cage) See http://www.playground-equipment.com/ProductDetails.asp?ProductID=39 for a picture * A monorail track guide (they have 20' ones!) or two (so kids can race :-) * Taller (10' instead of the "standard" 8') swing set with more swings * teeter-totter * climbing wall--they have a nifty set that has climbing wall surfaces, three panels wide, on both sides of an eight foot high frame. Update on the tennis courts. It sounds like this might be part of a next-year plan rather than a this-year plan (if they decide to do it), so I was told no rush on getting the final petition data to them-so there is time to gather more support/signatures. Remember, it is likely that if we brought them ~150 signatures in favor of this, the tennis courts would likely go in nearby Nike Park, which has more room, greater parking, etc. When you fill out the petition, you can indicate where you wish the courts to go (CF Park or Nike Park) in the comments field. Only the latest vote per person will be recorded in case anyone who has already voted would like to amend their comment statement. --Tim On Thu, Feb 06, 2003 at 08:06:30AM -0600, Fran Bixler wrote: Following this email is the VERY INFORMATIVE email that Tim Yao sent. Please read it if you haven't already. Just to follow up on that email, TODAY is the last day you can vote for your playground manufacturer. Please call Karen at 848-5017 or Debi at 858-5011 to cast your vote. Karen did say something about another meeting to discuss the change outs of equipment i.e. volcano rock climbing wall in lieu of a monkey bar type wall. That meeting will solidify our change requests and allow the manufacturers to submit their final draft of the park before the installation. Don't forget to vote on tennis courts or other amenities AS MENTIONED BY TIM'S EMAIL. We have till this Friday to make our votes/wishes known, particularly for any substituted equipment. Note, for instance, that the current plans only call for two toddler swings in one playground and two regular swings in the other. If you want more, you need to let them know. I think that a teeter-totter would be great. Current vote counts for sports facilities are: tennis_courts: 56 basketball_court: 27 volleyball_court: 28 Those who are interested in these facilities need to help round up votes from Naperville residents. Go to http://www.centuryfarms.org/parks to vote. --Tim ---------------------------------------------------------------------- 1/29/2003 Standing room only: a pretty good turn out for the room we were given and with the District 203 open house tonight. Those who wanted to attend and could not, it is fortunately not too late to investigate the options and make your opinions heard. We have the power to make changes to the proposed plans, but only until 2/6. The notes below are just what I was able to jot down from the meeting; I hope others who were there can fill in any gaps or correct any mistakes. --Tim P.S. I was thinking it would be neat to get a merry-go-round; Debi noted that this was physically possible but difficult to accomplish since it requires a lot of space, few companies make this any more and there are some safety issues. Still, when growing up as a kid, few things were as much fun as a quick ride around on the merry-go-round :-) 01/29/2003: notes from the meeting with the NPD SUMMARY Up through 2/6, you can go to the Naperville Park District 320 West Jackson Ave., Naperville 60540 Update: go to their planning office on the west side of Book south of 95th street, opposite of Frontier Park. To express your vote for one of five proposed playground layouts plus any suggestions for changed options (e.g., do you want more than four swings?). Their office is open Monday-Friday, 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM. (telephone: 630 848-5011 Debi Nechleba
